I met Egge Altena at the gallery early this summer
we talked about the show that was up and got deeper
and deeper into our art backgrounds and our history in
travel and life.
I felt immediate fondness of Egge and developed
a strong bond.
the next day I got to see her website and talked about a possible
project at the gallery where she would create a site specific
installation.
Ms. Altena who was born in Rijssen, Netherlands and who's art
has been central in her life, and not so with committing to following
typical schools or career paths, It put her, a basically self tough
artist, on a long and arduous road in her work in which she
concentrated mostly on developing her ideas and her work through
writing.
Egge has had several shows since 2000 and has traveled to the US
and Berlin where she does most of hr work

we do not wish to entirely live outside of the norms or standards,
but providing an arena in which creative minds can test the waters,
exploring new ideas and ways of looking at the state of the world
the way an artist sees it.
the struggle to do this at this time gives it utmost urgency and a sense of
immediacy.
it is necessary to assume responsibility for such an environment and also
to raise the expectations and requirements of the gallery space.
We at Marji Gallery are committed to such a space and will make every
possible convenience allowed to our artists and their work.
